WORLD CUP 2010 KNOCKOUT ROUND ODDS AND ACCUMULATOR PREDICTIONS
We've already got odds out for a few of this weekend's big World Cup fixtures as we get the group stages finished up on Friday and head towards the big clashes of the round of 16. As soon as odds become released for the later fixtures, we'll be sure to bring you those as we're extremely confident that there are some excellen World Cup Accumulator bets available on the knockout stages.
Uruguay vs South Korea
This looks an interesting fixture with Uruguay proving to be one of the biggest surprises of the World Cup. That is, unless you read our group stage predictions where we told you to back Uruguay/Mexico as a straight forecast in that Group A and if you did, we bet you're enjoying your 16/1 payout as much as we are. We also recall a certain website informing you to back Argentina/South Korea as well.
Regardless, Uruguay are listed as the odds-on favourites at 1.83 while South Korea are priced at 4.5. The draw trades at 3.4 and, considering the fact that Uruguay haven't even conceded a goal yet, I think they're a force to be reckoned with. They need to win the first 45 though, and if this is still 0-0 going into the second half then I would think about favouring South Korea. I think Uruguay will take this 2-1 and that's priced at 8.0. I also think 3-1 is plausible at 15.0.
Ghana vs USA
This match is absolutely dead-even. Both sides are currently priced at 2.62 to win the match with the draw available at 3.3. The Americans play some dynamic, hard-hitting stuff that is anything but football for the purists. Still, it's effective and they are grinding out results left and right. I think they are more than capable of beating Ghana and I get the feeling that the African side may struggle to break the Americans down.
Ste-pieces are vital here and the first goal is also very important. Both sides are at 2.05 to score the first goal. I think that a draw is a very real possibility here, and I am tempted to favour the Americans in extra-time as they have proven themselves to be the official clutch team of the 2010 World Cup. 3-2 USA at 34.0, but I fancy extra time.
Germany vs England
The English are the favoured team here and that might surprise some observers. The English just scraped into the knockout stages with a slim 1-0 victory over Slovenia and they are the 2.6 favourites ahead of 2.75 Germany. The draw trades at 3.2 and we've already gone into plenty of detail on this one in our match preview today.
We're confident that England will win this one if they play their best match of the tournament as the Germans have shown themselves to be beatable. I bet Fabio Capello is watching and re-watching game film of the Serbia match. If John Terry steps up and has a big game and England don't give up a red card or a penalty then they could very well take this one. A holding midfielder will likely be deployed so keep your eyes open for Stephen Warnock to make an appearance. England will win this one 1-0 at a 6.5 price.
Argentina vs Mexico
Argentina are big favourites here and they carry a 1.5 price to beat out the Mexicans. I think that this one could be one of the most open matches of the 2010 World Cup and, though Diego Maradon'a side have the bigger names, that Mexico are real threats here.
You'll find Mexico priced at 7.0 to win the match while the draw is listed at 4.0. I will go out on a limb here and back the Mexicans to force extra time. I think Argentina may not be able to get things going early on and they will likely have to deal with Javier Hernandez from the start of the match. I think a 2-2 draw is plausible and I'll be backing Chicarito to score last at a 10.0 price.
If you're looking to back a round of 16 accumulator, you'll find our selections- Uruguay x draw x England x draw at a 62.92 price. If you're looking to back all of our correct scores on an accumulator, you are looking at ridiculous odds of 15028.0 for 2-1 x 2-2 x 0-1 x 2-2.
