WORLD CUP 2010 QUARTER-FINAL PREDICTIONS AND ACCUMULATOR TIPS
We've got our first few football-free days until Friday as the World Cup Quarter-Final matches are about to get underway. There are some tantalizing fixtures here and one of the biggest stand-outs for me is how generous some of the betting odds are.
HOLLAND VS BRAZIL
The first quarter-final fixture kicks off at 1500 on July 2nd when Holland vs Brazil will light up TV screens everywhere. Brazil are the distinct favourites for this one, but this will be (by far) their biggest challenge of the tournament. I actually think that the style the Netherlands plays will nullify a lot of the Brazilian threat. I'm interested to watch Arjen Robben run at that Brazilian defence.
Popular UK bookmaker Ladbrokes has priced Brazil as the odds-on favourites at a 1.9 price while Holland are trading at 4.33. The draw is sitting at 3.25 and I could only imagine how crazy extra-time would be between these two teams. I'm confident that the players that Holland have can score goals against Brazil, and this match will be won or lost by Holland's defence. The price for outright qualification is Brazil at 1.44 and the Dutch at 2.62.
URUGUAY VS GHANA
This is more or less the most random match of the 2010 World Cup Quarter-finals as not many folks would have expected these two sides to make it this far (unless you read our earlier predictions about Uruguay, that is). The South American side are listed at even-money to win the match while Ghana is priced at 4.2. The draw can be backed at a 3.0 price, but I get the feeling that Ghana will really need something special to pull this one off.
This match will kick off at 1930 on July 2nd.
ARGENTINA VS GERMANY
What a fixture this one is going to be. Diego Maradona's boys are the solid favourites, but the Germans have just been playing so well at this tournament that you'd fancy them to give the Argies a game. There was a fair amount of controversy in the last match and Tevez really shouldn't have scored that opener. Additionally, I sort of get a bad taste in my mouth watching the Argentines turn to gamesmanship so frequently- a team with players and quality like that shouldn't be flopping around all over the place like they have been this tournament.
You'll find Argentina priced at 2.1 while Germany can be backed at a 3.5 price. The draw pays out at 3.2 and I think that this one could be an extra-time candidate. I think that if the Germans can find space in the midfield then they could boss the match. Germany's defence looks like they can handle the best of Argentina and I expect this one to be an absolute classic.
The odds are not out for Spain vs Paraguay just yet, but we will feature them as soon as they become available.
