WORLD CUP 2010 SATURDAY BETTING PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS
We had some pretty solid matches in Group A on the opening day of the 2010 World Cup, but there's even more action in store on Saturday June 12th. We have Group B and C encounters kicking off and the bookies are offering up some stellar odds- this is one of the best days of the group stages if you're looking for value prices.
South Korea vs Greece
I think this is a winnable match for both sides and the bookies don't see much between them at all. Popular boomaker Blue Square has priced Greece as the slimmest of favourites with a 17/10 price ahead of South Korea's 9/5 listing. The draw can be backed at 2/1 and I think that will likely be a popular option.
Georgios Samaras is the focal point of most Greek attacks and he's priced at 2/1 to score a goal at any time. Samaras is 28/1 to score in both halves and 16/1 to score from outside the box. I like a bet on him to hit the woodwork at 10/1.
Ji-Sung Park's odds to score are trading at 3/1 anytime with a 50/1 price to score in both halves. If you're a big fan of the South Korean then I think that's a great selection. He is 4/1 to get booked and I could see that happening as well.
I think this could be a low-scoring match and under 1.5 goals doesn't look out of the question at an 11/8 price.
Argentina vs Nigeria
You're going to have some seriously big names taking to the field in this match. Lionel Messi & Co. are favoured to roll over the African representatives and Blue Square likes them at a 4/9 prie. Nigeria have it all to do at 13/2 while the draw trades at 16/5.
Argentina are more than justifiable favourites as they have so many match-winners on the pitch. They were inconsistent during the qualifying stages though and it will be interesting to see which Argentina side shows up here. Nigeria will try to stay resolute and will likely be playing for the draw.
Lionel Messi's odds to score are priced at 4/5 with odds of 28/1 to hit a hat-trick against Nigeria. I think a lot of Argentina fans may be opting for that one. I actually like Gonzalo Higuain at a solid price of 10/11. Angel Di Maria trades at an enticing 7/2.
Obafemi Martins looks set to get the job done for Nigeria and he's listed at a lengthy 11/4.
England vs USA
This is probably the biggest match of the day and England know that they can't play for the draw. Blue Square lists England as the 1.5 favourites with the United States odds to win at 11/2. The draw can be backed at 16/5.
Wayne Rooney is the big variable here and he's trading at 8/11 to score anytime- that's better odds than Lionel Messi in his game. Rooney is 6/1 to score in both halves and that's a very plausible bet. His odds to get sent off trade at 28/1 and he's a slim 2/1 to be booked. Peter Crouch is listed at 11/8 to score anytime.
Landon Donovan will be looking to get the job done for the Americans and he's trading at 11/4 with Clint Dempsey at a 3/1 price.
I think England should take this one and I think a 3-1 price is pretty reasonable at 12/1.
