- By A.J. Ryder on July 11, 2014 18:47 GMTThe betting is probably fairly obvious in terms of who is fancied to win the competition here. Germany can be backed at a 2.30 price tag while their Argentinian counterparts can be backed at a 3.40 listing. The draw is also really interesting and comes in at a solid 3.10.

We have seen an awful lot of 0-0 draws here and that would be keeping in line with what we have seen from Argentina time and time again this tournament. Keeping their lines clear and being able to absorb the German attacks will give them some extra edge here.
In regards to the outright odds on who will lift the trophy, you can lock in a solid 1.70 price tag on Germany and that’s not a bad wager - particularly if you are also backing the draw for the 90 minute result. Lionel Messi and Co. will be trading at about 2.15 and that’s a solid wager all things considered. Be sure to watch out for the late goals here as you can expect the first 45 minutes or so to be more about the teams feeling each other out and not really looking to commit too many men forward.
The first goal is absolutely crucial in this match and it will set the tone for the rest of it. Both sides have several different potential match winners on the pitch and, with the return of Di Maria from injury, you can expect Argentina to be buoyed by that and look to press Germany more than they have other sides throughout the earlier stages of the World Cup.
If you really fancy Germany to run away with the match like they did against Brazil, you can back them on the handicap with a (-1.0) result trading at a 4.80 listing. That’s going to be a popular wager - particularly those who believe they will be full of confidence coming into the match following the absolute destruction of Brazil.
It’s worth remembering that Germany did great in their last match but had some up-and-down performances earlier in the tournament at times so it’s probably a good idea not to get too carried away with betting super hard on Germany.
