WTA US OPEN BETTING WOZNIACKI BEGINS CAMPAIGN ON DAY 2

Caroline Wozniacki aims to build on her 2009 US Open runner-up finish by going one better this year. She comes into the tournament as the top seed and as such, presumably, expected to do just that.
Not exactly. It's the first time Wozniacki headlines a field at a Grand Slam. And in lieu of such experience she isn’t the unequivocal favourite to win the tournament.
Of course, this doesn't mean she won't. She's definitely in the conversation and with Serena Williams out of the tournament the door is wide open for the rising stars in the game to make that breakthrough. But you can never discount proven champions like Venus, Sharapova and Kim Clijsters, which come to mind first when speculating on the potential tournament winner.
Wozniacki is scheduled to take Arthur Ashe Stadium at the conclusion of the Nadal vs. Gabashvili encounter currently underway and open on Live Betting trading floors at all popular bookmakers that offer this innovative wagering feature.
Going back to the Danish superstar, she opens her US Open bid against a home favourite, Chelsey Gullickson. Wozniacki is a massive favourite to win outright trading at 1/50. A comprehensive win, by that I mean a straight set affair, has Wozniacki listed at a best price of 1/10.
The American teenager enters this tournament on a wild card and therefore, you would be right to think she's kinda out of her element. This is the first time she is playing a top seed in an important match, a night match on one of the biggest stages in the game come to mind.
Certainly, bookies are favouring an efficient performance, a two set affair at 1/12. Meanwhile, a three set affair is priced large at 6/1, which suggests there isn’t much confidence the fledgling American would step up to the occasion, under the lights in the Big Apple.
Speaking of Gullickson she's at the huge disadvantage going into this match, in every way. No surprise she's listed at 12/1 to win outright and at a whopping 25/1 to win in straight sets. By contrast, a three-set win by her is priced shorter at 16/1 but it's a rather long price altogether.
Sweet Caroline is favoured in set betting markets at 1/16 to take the first and second sets. Tennis bettors looking to back Chelsey will find her priced rather large at 7/1 to take either the first or second sets.
The American twist to this match will definitely draw the late New York crowd into the match more, be more involved than they would be otherwise. In some ways, this could perhaps encourage Gullickson to aim to please, reciprocate the support with some heroics.
I can’t discredit home support because it really can be a huge catalyst but what I can do is credit Wozniacki with some unbelievable momentum ahead of this clash. She recently won her third straight New Haven title and leads the US Open series in points, which qualifies her for a potential bonus $ 1 million should she win the US Open title. I’d call that incentive.
