The first, second and fourth favourites for the June 6 Epsom showpiece all do battle in the Group 3 contest and punters really can't afford to miss the action. Aidan O'Brien's Moonstone is the Oaks favourite in most lists at around 6/1, and she naturally heads the market for the Musidora. O'Brien's horses have been hit and miss so far this season, and Moonstone failed to get her head in front at Leopardstown last month in a 17-runner maiden. The form of that race can't really be judged acurately, as none of the principals have been seen since, but the daughter of Dalakhani should certainly appreciate the extended 1m2f trip of the Musidora and she is more than likely to improve from her recent outing. Clerk of the course William Derby has stated that the going remains on the easier side of Good to Firm after 5mm of watering on Tuesday, but a glance at Dalakhani's race record will show that the superstar colt didn't appreciate firm ground and punters may think of opposing the race favourite. Trainer John Gosden sends out Dar Re Mi, who annihilated her maiden field at Sandown just under three weeks ago with a thoroughly professional performance over 10 furlongs. Dar Re Mi has an impressive pedigree as her dam won the Prix Vermeille at the Prix de L'Arc de Triomphe meeting and her sire, Singspiel, won nearly half of his races, and four of those successes were Group 1s. The only problem with considering Gosden's charge however, is that in May he has sent out 30 runners and only won once. He is in astonishingly poor form right now, and the way that Raincoat ran at Chester, you wouldn't invest your money in any of his runners at present. Peter Chapple Hyam's Cape Amber is prominent in the Oaks betting at around the 10/1 mark, and the beauty about her form is that she has won on firm going. On her only start, she hacked up in an 18-runner maiden at Newmarket on rock solid ground. Although Chapple-Hyam has hardly been firing in the winners this month, he has had some near misses and at 8/1, Cape Amber should be backed each-way just in case that happens once more. Lush Lashes looks too short, and is priced up on her brave sixth behind wonder filly Natagora in the 1,000 Guineas. It was a green display that day, and one which saw her motor at the finish. The fact that she couldn't handle The Dip on the Rowley Mile does not bode too well for Epsom, but on York's flat expanse, she may perform better. The Duke of York Hearthsted Homes Stakes (3.10) looks a tricky sprint to unravel, and although US Ranger looks a dangerous favourite to take on, Haatef at almost twice the price looks the value.
