ZAMBIA VS NIGERIA 2010 AFRICAN CUP OF NATIONS BETTING TIPS

The second quarter final match-up in the 2010 Africa Cup of Nations kicks off at 19:30 pm and we’ve got tournament outsiders Zambia taking on perennial African footballing powerhouse Nigeria. The Super Eagles are listed at an odds-on price of 8/11 for the outright win against Collins Mbesuma’s Zambian side, who trade at 4/1. You’ll find the draw listed at a 12/5 and keep in mind that is basically the price that sends the match to overtime. I think that’s going to be a popular option for Zambian fans, as I think they will especially dangerous in extra-time.
In terms of outright qualification, Nigeria are considered heavy favourites at 3/10 with Zambia trading at a lengthy 11/4. The bookies are favouring a low-scoring game with the over/under at 2.5 goals. The bet for under 2.5 goals pays out at 4/6 while over 2.5 pays 11/10.
Nigeria (-1.0) pays out at 21/10 and that’s a solid bet for Nigerian fans. I think if they are going to win this one, it could be a lopsided type of victory. I think a Nigerian victory will be an emphatic one, but a Zambian victory will be a hard-scrabble slugfest for the better part of 120 minutes. I think Zambia are capable of the win, they deserve to be here, but they will need to produce a hell of a performance to get past the Nigerians.
The preferred correct score call is 1-0 to Nigeria at 11/2 with 2-0 to Nigeria at 6/1, the same price as a 1-1 draw. Nigeria 2-1 pays 7/1 while Zambia 2-1 pays 18/1. How about the solid 14/1 odds on a 2-2 draw?
Nigerian fans would do well to back their team to be leading at the end of both halves in the half-time/full-time market at 17/10. Draw/Nigeria pays out at 16/5 while Draw/Zambia pays 9/1. Draw/Draw will reward with a 9/2 listing.
Nigeria are 4/5 to keep a clean sheet and 11/8 to win to nil.
In terms of the goalscorer markets, Yakubu and Peter Odemwingie are trading at 11/10 to score anytime while Obafemi Martins is at 11/8. Chinedu Ogbuke is at 6/4 while Nwankwo Kanu can be backed at 7/4. John Obi Mikel is decently-priced at 7/1.
Zambia will be looking to Jacob Mulenga and James Chamanga at 11/4 while Collins Mbesuma, Christopher Katongo, Emmanuel Mayuka and Given Singuluma can all be backed at 3/1.
I think this one is tilted in Nigeria’s favour, they have more goal-threats, but the way this tournament has panned out is ensuring us that in football there are no sure things. I think we could see overtime here, that or a lopsided Nigerian victory.
