2013 USPGA Betting Tips

The latest major championship of the season is already underway at Oak Hill Country Club in Rochester, New York and it looks as though it could be one of the most fascinating events we’ve seen yet this season. Tiger Woods was back in the headlines last week after putting together another stellar performance and its unsurprising that he’s getting so much favour from the bookmakers here ahead of this tournament as well.

At the time of this writing Canadian David Hearn is the leader at -4 thru 11 with David Toms and Rickie Fowler both in the hunt at -3. Tiger Woods, the outright betting favourite by a very significant margin, is at -2 and looking quite comfortable after only 7 holes of play.

As it currently stands, Woods can be backed at a 5/2 margin with most major bookmakers though that price is expected to vary significantly throughout the live wagering session on Thursday.

Phil Mickelson is trading as the second choice with plenty of punters looking to scoop up lefty, particularly on the each-way bet where he still offers up plenty of value. You’ll find him available at a 14/1 price and, spread out over 3 places, you get the feeling that it’s definitely a live bet.

Adam Scott is an 18/1 shot and the real one to watch looks like it could be Rickie Fowler - who can be backed at 20/1 and looks to have started things off quite well at Oak Hill. Look for him to continue pouring on the pressure and if he pulls off another quality score on Friday he will definitely be a live bet.

Fowler’s consistency has been better this season but Saturdays and Sundays continue to torment him at times. It would be a major statement of intent for the young, brightly-dressed upstart and when you consider that his odds to win the tournament were around 80/1 before things kicked off today - you get an idea of just how much quality he has flashed in the 10 holes of so he’s played already.
