Fowler is especially interesting in these circumstances as he has been installed as the favourite to emerge as the top American point scorer - something that would do his career a world of good. McIlroy had a lot of press coming into this one but it’s going to be tricky for him from a betting perspective as he has been set up against the better American competitors and may not be able to get the results that some might have really thought of before things kicked off.
