With a bit of a spark now delivered to the English dressing room after a relatively tumultuous couple of months (well, years) and the ongoing Kevin Pietersen saga at least put to bed for a while, the players can get down to business and start putting in the work that they’ll need in order to get the better of their Australian counterparts for the upcoming series.

A new generation of young players are currently making their impressions felt in both the test and the One Day sides and the likes of Ben Stokes, Jos Buttler and Joe Root really seem to have captured the public sentiment and they’ve been able to help England really step up their game at times in the last few months - when the old England team would likely have buckled and not been able to find the additional gear to win the match.
All this being said though, England are still considered to be the significant underdogs for the Ashes series as the Australians loom large and have been playing some really good cricket as of late as their own new generation has settled in nicely and has begun forging some really good partnerships.
Momentum is going to be a big thing going into this series and the English look like they’ll be having a good amount of it since they were able to get the better of the New Zealand side in their last fixture and were more than able to chase down a massive total with relative ease.
If they can pull off a victory in the final fixture of the series then England will have really reversed their fortunes since the early portion of the One Day series when they were playing some extremely indifferent cricket and visibly struggled to find their rhythm at times.
