Ashes Second Test Betting Update PT 2

Should there be a winner here, the bookmakers definitely seem to favour the Australian side and you’ll find them listed at a best price of around 3/1 for the outright win in the second test. There is a lot to like about their ability and they appear to have England mostly on the run here and if they can bowl them out cheaply and get five full sessions then you would have to say they are odds-on to win the second test.

The conditions overhead don’t exactly look like they will be matching the weather of the last few days and clear skies are expected which will ensure that we get two full days of action and it also ensures that the lively seam bowling might be hampered a bit.

If England are able to bat through the first bit of the day and post a total of around 225 for Australia to chase then they will be right in with a shout - particularly with four sessions to bowl at the Australians.

Steve Smith remains the really important wildcard here and there is every chance that he won’t be risked in the second innings here at Lord’s and he was, by far, Australia’s best player during the entirety of their opening innings here in the second test.

Joe Root is expected to be the English player who posts the most runs and he’s priced around a 7/4 listing right now with most major bookmakers while he faces primary competition from Rory Burns at 13/4. Ben Stokes is a 9/2 shout while Jos Butler trades at 5/1.

Interestingly enough, you can back a price of around 9/1 on anybody to score a century in the second test and that could be the individual who turns the tide of the contest.
