The scores are all pretty concentrated right now so you’ll have a large cluster of contenders hoversing around -2 and -3 at the time of this writing.
With a number of big names still yet to take to the course, this situation could change quickly. You can expect a number of the big names to hang around throughout most of today’s action and if anybody can get on a roll and jump out to a multi-shot lead, then they could be hard to catch.
This particular course is one of the longest to be contested in a major championship and that’s going to suit a certain type of player. Many had poinetd to this being a big opportunity for the likes of Bryson De Chambeau, but he hasn’t been able to capitalize so far, sitting three shots off the lead after posting a score of even par on the opening day’s play.
Punters will find DeChambeau still in the mix for a potential tournament victory with the bookmakers pricing him around a 22/1 margin at the time of this writing. That makes him an interesting each way option as you would be getting about 4/1 or 5/1 on him to finish within the top five or six contenders, depending on whom you’re wagering with this time.
The current clubhouse leader has alternated between Keegan Bradley and Brooks Kepoka for much of the opening day whie both of them remain at the top of the leaderboard with several active players sitting at -2. Phil Mickelson has been amongst the early revelations on Friday with some solid shots posted.
