Ashes Second Test Betting Preview PT 2
- By A.J. Ryder on August 5, 2019 18:45 GMTSteve Smith trades at a 7/4 listing to be named top Aussie batsman for the second test and that’s not a bad wager at all. England Joe Root is the slim favourite with a 10/3 listing while Rory Burns can be backed at 9/2 to be named top English batsman. Both Ben Stokes and Jason Roy will be looking to improve in the next test and they both trade at 5/1 prices.

Stuart Broad is the odds-on favourite to be named as the top English bowler at the Ashes and you’ll find him trading around a 4/6 price with Chris Woakes available around 10/3 for that same market.
Ben Stokes sits at either 4/1 or 9/2 while Jofra Archer is expected to play a bigger part in this next test and he can be backed at a 7/1 price tag to be the top English Ashes bowler.
The bookmakers are pretty clear that the Australian side now hold the edge in the tournament here with the visitors available around a 4/7 price to win the Ashes and a 4/6 price tag to win the series outright.
The English side definitely need to improve in the next outing and they retain a very good record at Lord’s, while the crowd may be a bit more subdued at this point. What will sting especially is the fact that England looked to have the Australians right where they wanted them as they finished up their first innings.
There are still four more tests to play and the bookmakers are favouring a 5/1 price tag on a 3-2 Aussie result as the outright favourite final scoreline.
