- By A.J. Ryder on August 15, 2019 18:20 GMTThings got off to a tricky start on the second scheduled day of the Ashes test at Lord’s with the first day being a washout without a single ball being bowled. There was plenty of action and excitement in the cards on Thursday with England getting bowled out for a relatively respectable 259 and then getting into the wickets with a few overs remaining in the days play.

The betting markets saw a good amount of volume on this contest and the live wagering was favouring anybody who thought Australia would be able to plow through the majority of England’s order with only a couple of players mustering up decent scores.
It could have been much worse for England but they will be buoyed by already having Australia down by a wicket ahead of Friday’s action.
With us having lost a day’s play in the second test of the 2019 Ashes series, the bookmakers definitely favour a drawn test here but it is by no means a foregone conclusion with prices hovering around a 6/5 margin at the time of this writing after the close of Thursdays play.
There is plenty to like about Australia’s chances and if they can dig in and put together a few good stands on Friday - betting through until Saturday perhaps - then they will be poised to bowl England out cheaply. You can back the Australians to win the second test around a price of 15/8.
England to pull off a victory in this test - and let’s face it, they could tear into Australia’s order and get them out for a low total - then you’ll be looking at a price of around 10/3.
