Ashes Second Test Betting Update PT 1

Lord’s was treated to another exciting day of cricket today and it’s been a pretty jam-packed summer of great moments so far. This time around, in another day beset by rain stopping play, England were able to bowl out the Aussies and retain the lead, but they subsequently dropped a few wickets heading into the fourth day of action with the Ashes second test looking poised for a potential result after appearing to be doomed to a drawn test.

Naturally, the draw still remains the favourite outcome according to the bookmakers but it appears lukewarm with a price of around 8/15 and that’s significantly higher than the ⅕ it was trading at at various points yesterday.

One of the biggest moments of the contest - and one could say potentially of the whole series - was when Joffra Archer was introduced to the attack and immediately proved to be the missing link to the Aussies main weapon in Steve Smith. He bowled extremely aggressively and, in a moment many will remember, forced the Aussie superstar to retire hurt at 80 and in need of an x-ray for a potential fracture.

He returned, clearly rattled, about forty minutes later and (even though Archer had been removed from the attack) he was taken in a shoulders-up LBW decision after adding a mere 12 more runs.

The image of him laying on the wicket in clear pain could wind up being the defining moment of the 2019 Ashes series. Joffra Archer has clearly announced his presence in the world of test cricket.
