ATP ROGERS CUP BETTING TIPS NADAL vs. KOHLSCHREIBER
As I write this, the match that should have been THE match of the day, isn’t. British tennis fans will be happy though to know that their man, Murray, is up a set and a break on Nalbandian, in the first quarterfinal of the day and looking for all the world to see like he is headed into the semis.
All is moving according to the established order in the game. then. Fancy that.
If things continue on this verve, the match will be over quickly. Nalby though is hanging in. Why delay the inevitable, I say.
It wasn’t so in the markets. Murray went into the encounter as the underdog and more than a few doubted his chances to emerge into the semis. Nalbandian had looked too hot ahead of their clash.
The winner of the Murray vs. Nalbandian clash is slotted to meet the winner of the Nadal vs. Kohlschreiber clash, that follows immediately afterwards.
Unlike the rather tight rope Murray was walking in the markets, Nadal is a runaway favourite, across the board, in every aspect of the match.
Nadal is a whopping 1/12 fave at William Hill to win outright while Kohlschreiber is listed at 6/1 odds. Nadal takes a convincing 6-0 edge over the 26-year-old German. That is in addition to every other “on paper” edge imaginable but that we don’t really need to wax lyrical about.
In set betting markets, Nadal is a solid 1/4 favourite to win in straight sets. Should the match go to three sets, Nadal to win 2-1 is listed at 9/2.
Considering, Nadal has dropped only 10 of 90 sets since embarking on the startling run that saw him pick up three consecutive Masters titles, the French Open and Wimbledon, I should say a straight set affair is more than likely here.
Does Kohlschreiber have a shot against Nadal? In theory, anything is possible – even the most unthinkable is possible.
Kohlschreiber has performed well against Nadal in the past. The scoreline doesn’t always tell the whole story.
However, at 6/1 odds to win outright he has a monumental task ahead of him. That he has never beaten Nadal just takes away any credence in his stock value.
In set betting markets, Kohlschreiber emerges an even larger bet. He is trading at 14/1 to take the match in straight sets (a very unlikely scenario) and at 11/1 to take the match in three sets.
