ATP ROGERS CUP FINAL BETTING FEDERER VS. MURRAY

Roger Federer and Andy Murray moved into the Rogers Cup final after a sensational “Semi-final Saturday” in Toronto. Theirs is going to be a compelling final clash, partly because of the Melbourne back-story.
Federer and Murray last met at the Australian Open final, an encounter that Federer won rather comprehensively over Murray 6-3, 6-4,7-6(11) and after which the No.1 Brit seemed to fade.
A 'Murray Revenge' is a theme for the day that is tossed about quite a bit.
Andy Murray enters the match at 4/5 while Federer is listed at 10/11 at William Hill. Seems a bit of hair splitting is being done here by bookies as Murray only just edges Federer in the market. Either way, there is value whichever way you slice this match.
Murray secured his place in the title match with a convincing win over Nadal, 6-3, 6-4. Once again, he brought out “attacking Murray” against the Spaniard, the very same he brandished in Melbourne when he beat him in the semis. This Murray is much more entertaining to watch, and dare I say it, more effective. I don't understand why he doesn't play like this more often!
Murray is aiming to defend his Rogers Cup title; in fact, he has added incentive to do so. If he doesn’t defend his points this week, he risks slipping to World No.5 in the rankings and as such, his seeding at the US Open will be affected.
Murray’s form has been steadily improving in Toronto. He started slow but got better as the tournament plodded along. He brought his best form to date against Nadal.
Federer advanced on the strength of a three-set marathon against Novak Djokovic, 6-1, 3-6, 7-5. It was the second match in a row Federer was made to work hard for the win. Federer had a whale of a time against Berdych in the quarters as well.
That Federer prevailed in two difficult encounters should do wonders for his confidence, which has been on the receiving end of a beating since spring.
Federer has only the Australian Open title to his name this season, but as titles go, it is a good one to have.
Murray just edges Federer in head-to-heads, 6-5. However, recent trending shows that Federer has the edge – he has won their last three encounters in a row.
The Canadian crowd really embraced Federer this week; in his encounters with Berdych and Djokovic, the crowd was particularly vocal about their allegiance to him, to the point of heckling his opponents. I cannot help feel that that will be a huge edge for the Swiss maestro. There is nothing like an entire crowd gunning for you to give you the sense of home advantage. And if you know Murray at all, there is nothing that gets under his skin more than a one-sided crowd.
Federer is a very proud person and I imagine these last few months haven’t been easy for him to come to terms with. There is a singularity of purpose about him; he seems very determined to get back to the top of the game but more than anything else, he wants to silence the critics that would have him a spent force.
Nothing but the Canada Masters title will do for that purpose, so needs must.  If Federer wins today, watch him move ahead of the field in the US Open betting markets.
On the flipside, Murray needs to win this encounter if he is to be ever taken as a serious threat and underscore his odds at the US Open.
