Berbatov Needs to Step Up

Berbatov has struggled to fit into Sir Alex Ferguson’s plans at the club over recent weeks thanks to the good form of Mexican Javier Hernandez. There is only one person who can change the recent sequence of events and that is the Bulgarian striker.
Berbatov has been the best striker at United this season across all competitions. He has scored the most goals and carried the side during the injury and poor form of Wayne Rooney. The only reason he looks out of sorts at present is because he’s not getting the games.
Berbatov will be a cool head in what will be a hostile atmosphere at Upton Park. Ferguson should be looking to get as many experienced players into his side as he can because West Ham can get themselves up for a match and beat any opposition side.
It’s unlikely that Berbatov will be playing in the United attack by himself. His partner will most likely be Rooney and he will have to play off of his fellow striker as much as possible. Rooney drags the players out of position which provides Berbatov with the extra yards of space which often create goals.
All too often at times in Berbatov’s career have people said that he does not look interested, looks as if he’s sulking about something or just generally looks as though he’d rather be somewhere else. However, Berbatov was at his happiest earlier in the season when he was hitting the back of the net for fun.
Berbatov will most likely be used as a target man against West Ham because the West Ham midfield will not allow United to stroke the ball around. There will be physical challenges flying in and a lot of pressing off the ball. Berbatov is very good at holding the ball up and bringing others into play which means United are more likely to hit him as soon as possible.
