Berbatov Seems Content to Carry United

Berbatov has been in great form this season and recently scored his third hat-trick of the campaign against Birmingham City as well as a brace against this season’s surprise package Blackpool. The Bulgarian has been in total control of the United attack during Wayne Rooney’s poor spell of form.
The difference between this Berbatov and the Berbatov of last season is that he is the main man. He has over taken Rooney in the respect of being the most important player in United’s attack and he seems to be relishing this fact.
What makes Berbatov so effective is that he can play in any system whether it’s a 4-4-2 formation or a 4-5-1 formation. He can lead the attack by himself or he can play with a partner, creating space for others as well as setting up a variety of different goalscoring chances.
Berbatov’s attitude at the moment is superb. There have been times during his United career when he’s looked as though he’d rather be somewhere else as opposed to wearing a United shirt on any pitch. This creates confidence among fans and his fellow players that when the Bulgarian gets into the right positions, he’s going to score.
Sir Alex Ferguson has been able to build the rest of the team around him and this is what has been getting United the results. The spine of the United team is very strong and this has meant the side hasn’t changed a great deal. This has allowed Berbatov to get used to playing around the same players in a successful and winning manner.
There is now very little doubt among United fans and former players that Berbatov is going to be United’s top scorer by the end of the season and possibly the top scorer in the Premier League by the end of the current campaign.
