Betting Guide For The 2013/14 Ashes Pt 2
- By A.J. Ryder on November 20, 2013 18:58 GMTThere are a pile of interesting prop bets that will be offering up value for the entirety of the series. One of the most interesting is any player to take a hat trick - which pays out at a 10/1 margin. A double century to be scored pays out at a mere 6/4 and you’d expect that to perhaps be a bit higher. No double century scored at a 1/2 price tag and that makes it interesting.

A follow-on to be enforced at any point during the Ashes series trades at a 6/4 margin and that’s not a bad wager actually considering the fact that there have been plenty of instances where the option was available during the last series. You could see that batting collapses happened to both sides as they were each bowled out cheaply. You reckon the Aussies would relish the opportunity to enforce the follow-on against England in front of their home fans. No follow-ons to be enforced over the five tests would reward at a 1/2 margin.
A Triple Century to be scored at the Ashes (just imagine if it was Kevin Pietersen...) would pay out at a massive 12/1 margin, while this not to happen pays out at an ultra-slim 1/50.
It’s also interesting that a team is favoured to win by an innings at some point and you’ll find that trading at an 8/13 margin. No team to win by an innings would reward at a 6/5 price which makes this a very competitive market that could certainly go either way given the circumstances.
The favourite for the Ashes Top Series Bowler is James Anderson, who can be backed at a 9/2 margin. He had an excellent Ashes campaign, particularly in the early tests where he single-handedly kept the English in the mix when they were up against it on the attack.
