Blues on course for Quarter Finals

Chelsea host FC Copenhagen in the last 16 of the Champions League this Wednesday night with one foot already in the next round.

A 2-0 win in the Danish capital a fortnight ago should be enough to see the Blues go through but they will also be wary of the need to complete the job in a professional manner at Stamford Bridge this midweek.

Didier Drogba should be available again after limping off in the 3-1 win over Blackpool last Monday. However, the game could come to soon Alex and Yossi Benayoun who are both nearing a return.

Zdenek Pospech is suspended for the visitors who have won their two domestic fixtures since losing to Chelsea in the first leg of this tie.

Copenhagen are bidding to become the first ever Scandinavian side to win a Champions League knockout-stage match. But to do so they will need to overturn a steep two goal deficit against a Chelsea side that have lost just one of their last 25 Champions League matches at Stamford Bridge.

The visitors are also looking to become the first Danish side to ever win a Champions League match in England. Fair to say that the odds are stacked against Stale Solbakken’s side.

The Blues are priced at 1/3 for the win with a draw, which would also see them progress, at odds of 4/1. Copenhagen are 9/1 to cause what would be one of the greatest upsets in Champions League knockout history.

The evening’s other Champions League round-of-16 tie sees Jose Mourinho’s Real Madrid host Lyon.

The sides are locked at 1-1 after the first leg but the Spanish side will be confident of progressing having won all 21 matches at the Bernabeu under their Portuguese manager.

Madrid are priced at 4/11 for the win and 1/6 to qualify for the quarter finals. Lyon are 4/1 to progress and a big 8/1 to win inside the 90 minutes.
