Chicharito Under Pressure
- By Lewis Doe on April 22, 2011 07:29 GMTJavier Hernandez to keep Dimitar Berbatov out of the Manchester United side through his enthusiastic danger.
Hernandez played well during the 0-0 draw against Newcastle United in the mid-week Premier League clash and many have agreed that he was unfortunate not to win a penalty in the very last minute of the game.
He was pounced on by some big defenders during the match but was one of the few players on the pitch who looked dangerous every time the ball went near him. This is something that will keep him in the side for the match against Everton.
Pace is a big part of the Mexican’s football game and Sir Alex Ferguson has always had a soft spot for any striker who can turn a defence in a split second and run at the goalkeeper. This is what Hernandez can do at his very best and it could well get him a goal against Everton.
The aerial aspect of Hernandez’s game has come on leaps and bounds since he joined United last summer. He is similar to former United player Cristiano Ronaldo in the respect that he can get a decent spring from any position on the field which gives him a height advantage at corners and set plays over most defenders.
The other part of this striker’s game that is winning him a lot of admiration is his work ethic. It’s clear that Hernandez has always been a very fit young man and he uses this fitness to press the opposition throughout a game. He's shown this in some hard Champions League away games this season.
He tracked back a lot more against Newcastle than he has done before and he showed a solid defensive side to his game. His pace is quick enough to get him up the other end of the field any time that United have to go on the counter attack.
It is frightening to think about how good Hernandez could be in one or two seasons when he’s had a chance to get to grips with the Premier League and all of the sides in the division.
