Cricket World Cup Betting Preview PT 3

The Pakistanis won the competition a few decades ago and have been slowly but surely putting together a steady string of good performances in the one day version of the game over the past couple of years. They are listed at a 6/4 price here and it means the bookmakers genuinely have confidence in their ability to get the reverse over India - whom the Pakistani side might view as vulnerable.

In regards to India’s top batsman wagering, you’ll find Virender Kohli trading at an 11/4 price tag while Rohit Sharma is perhaps a slightly better wager at 7/2. India are without many of their legends that have been massive names over the past 10 years or so but Mahendra Singh Dhoni is still in the mix and he trades at an 8/1 price tag to top India’s top runscorer list.

Should Dhoni wind up actually paying off as the top scorer for India then it will probably be in defeat as there are so many batsmen with big expectations on their shoulders. Mohammed Shami is the favoured wicket taker at 3/1 while it’s a total toss-up aside from him with Sharma, Ashwin, Jadeja and Yaday all trading at 7/2.

In the final match of the opening round we’ve got Ireland taking on West Indies and the Windies are getting the distinct edge to take on the upstart Irishmen. You’ll find Chris Gayle and the boys trading at a very slim 1/4 price to get the result over the talented ODI side. Ireland can be backed at a 3/1 price for the outright win and that’s not completely out of the question as their opponents put in a truly horrible performance against the English during the warm-ups.

Ireland were also able to beat England in the last World Cup and that will still live large in their minds so anything is truly possible here. A lot probably depends on who bats first. Chris Gayle is a slim 2/1 to get the top Windies runscorer wager while his closest competition is Dwayne Smith.
