England Go For Series Wrap Up in India

The tourists go into the penultimate test at Nagpur at a competitive price to get the outright result and secure a first test series win on Indian shores since the early 1980s. The outright wagering indicates what a total toss-up this one really looks like and it will likely take a few sessions for us to get any genuine idea of just how things might shape up.

India get the slimmest of edges in the wagering with the bookmakers floating a 6/4 price tag on them to get the victory over 5 days. England are just a notch behind them with a 13/8 price showing just how little there really is between the sides.
The likelihood of a drawn test would still see England get the series victory, but not quite in the sensational style that they would have been hoping for. England will search for a comprehensive victory here and they should be helped considerably by the result wicket that they are expecting here.
There is little sense for India to play for a draw here as only a victory will do. That’s why they’re getting the edge - they just have that little bit more to play for - at least in the bookmakers eyes.
Those looking for a draw no bet option won’t find much between the sides either with a 4/5 price on India and a 10/11 price on England.
Steve Finn looks likely to miss the test after a scan on his back showed a minor disc injury. He was unable to train on Wednesday and it looks unlikely that he will be risked. This is unfortunate because he also missed the first two tests with thigh issues. Stuart Broad is also ruled out after bruising developed on his left heel.
Alastair Cook is getting the edge for Man of the Match at an 8/1 price tag and if he puts together a knock similar to the ones he’s been getting so far on this tour then he’s looking a good shout to get the bottle of champagne. Monty Panesar trades at 9/1 while Pragyan Ojha is at the same price.
England’s Graeme Swann is a very enticing 10/1 shout.
Cook and Swann are favoured in the top England batsmen and bowler markets with 9/4 and 7/4 prices on them, respectively.
