England In Control After First Ashes Test Part 2

England to complete a 5-0 series whitewash over Australia would reward at a not-implausible 13/2 listing and you do reckon there will be a few English fans putting some of their hard-earned down on that result.

There is every chance that you can expect England to be buoyed by pulling off the result at Trent Bridge and that will galvanize them, Jimmy Anderson especially, into producing a performance for the ages in the next test.

Speaking of Anderson, he is now the hefty favourite for the top Ashes Series Bowler wager with the bookmakers trimming him down to 13/8 after taking a full ten wickets in the first test alone. He was considered the favourite prior to the start of the first test but his price is significantly shorter now at this point. Expect him to continue to distance himself from second-place Graeme Swann, who can be backed at a 7/2 price that looks a bit short at this point in time.

Australia have Peter Siddle listed as the most likely bowler to secure the top series distinction. He is a 4/1 shot to do so and, again, that price looks a bit short. James Pattinson has put himself in the reckoning and he is trading at 7/1 alongside Mitchell Starc.

Any player in the Ashes to take a hat-trick from this point on will reward at an 8/1 price tag.

Michael Clarke is the 2/1 favourite to record Australia’s first 2013 Ashes century with Shane Watson getting the nod for second favourite with a 4/1 price. Chris Rogers is an 11/2 shot while David Warner is trading at 6/1.
