England vs India 3rd Test Betting Tips Pt 1

Despite being mired in a captain controversy (yet again) and being 1-0 down to India in a home series, the English test team are still considered to be the outright favourites to get the job done over India in their next outing at Southampton. The English side appeared to be on course to pull off something considerable at various points during their last fixture at Lord’s but ultimately wound up sinking to an Indian attack that was able to pick up steam at a crucial period.

Ishant Sharma has been playing an absolute blinder, taking seven wickets in his last innings and absolutely running riot over England. When you combine his emergence with the rapid deceleration of Alastair Cook - who insists that he will not step down as captain or take a hiatus - you get the feeling that this season could continue to get extremely interesting.

One has to wonder whether this really is Cook’s last chance and you can just see how possible it would be for him to wind up getting out for 12 or something like that just when he was actually starting to look comfortable. Should he get out cheaply again, you reckon that will be his last opportunity.

Whether England will actually change captain’s in midstream remains unknown and you also have to wonder who would actually get the call. Many would fancy Stuart Broad because of the amount of intensity he brings to the matches and how it would signify a new push towards bringing through a crop of younger players to take over in a rapidly-aging England squad.

Matt Prior is sitting this one out with Jos Buttler coming in and looking to showcase some of the same verve and tenacity that has seen him put together some cracking one-day performances in recent months. His emergence could be key for England and if he remains steady behind the stumps England won’t miss Prior based on his recent low-quality batting performances.
