England vs Sweden Friendly Match Betting Preview

After pulling off one of the most impressive-sounding victories in many a year by toppling Spain 1-0 at Wembley, England will now look to pull off a visually impressive win against a Swedish side that has seemingly always dogged us at international level. Fabio Capello's men are being well-backed to take this one and bookmakers in the UK have them priced at a 4/5 margin for the match victory.

Sweden always present a challenge and they have usually been able to match us at this level for quite some time. Capello may also try some additional experimentation for this contest and the opportunity to try different teams not built around Wayne Rooney will obviously result in some real trial and error from the Italian.
Look for England to play a bit more of a swashbuckling style in this contest and they may or may not deploy the same midfield strategy as last time. I would keep your eyes peeled for them to name some out and out wingers from the get-go with Adam Johnson putting in a solid shift last time. Stuart Downing not so much.
Danny Welbeck had initially been offered the starting role in this one – his first start for England – but has now declared himself unable to play thanks to injury. Darren Bent will likely come into the side to partner Bobby Zamora.
As it currently stands, Bent is the betting favourite to open the scoring with a 6/1 listing. Daniel Sturridge, who could also get the start, is priced at 8/1 alongside Zamora. Zlatan Ibrahimovic is also priced at 8/1 to open the scoring.
Anybody looking to back Frank Lampard will find him trading at 10/1 alongside Theo Walcott – whose pace may bother the Swedish side if he can exploit the flanks and cut in, as is his customary fashion.
England will be looking to build on that big performance against Spain and Capello should also be buoyed by his ability to experiment successfully with a younger, hungrier side.
