Heineken Cup 2010 Pool Predictions
- By Adam Currie on October 7, 2010 07:04 GMTWith the world's premier Northern Hemisphere club tournament about to kick off, Bettingchoice takes a quick overview of odds relating to overall pool winners.
Pool 1:
The 'culture pot' group of the lot pits clubs from England, Wales, Scotland and France up against one another. Northampton and Cardiff are close contenders in this group priced at 2.20 and 2.25 respectively.
Castres is placed rather long at 7.0, with the Scottish XV rank outsiders at 15.0
This will be a tightly fought contest, however based on current from Northampton should pip the Welsh here
Pool 2:
This will prove to be a French Irish battle with Clermont and Leinster both split down the middle at 2.75 each.
English compatriots Saracens won’t have the muscle up front, or attacking flair to challenge these two.
Pool 3:
Current Irish log leaders Munster head up this group at 2.62, with the Welsh faithful fully behind a resurgent Ospreys at 2.87
Toulon fills the gap, with a once proud, but now largely one dynamic London Irish looking at an early exit
Pool 4:
This pool pits some of the tournament favourites together, with French contingent Biarritz and English powerhouses Bath equal odds at 2.0.
Irish cub Ulster are outmuscled here with a poor away from, with Aironi standing no chance at 251.0
Biarritz, the 2009/10 Runners up are the favourites to win the Pool, however it is a close run between them and Bath.
Pool 5:
This is another tough looking pool, with Leicester starting as odds on favourites at 1.44, with Perpignan at 3.0. Scarlets and Treviso have not been given too much chance here at all.
Twice winners Leicester certainly have the experience to go all the way again this year, and will win this group easily
Pool 6:
This Pool looks like a straight fight between defending champions, Toulouse at 1.17, and two time winners Wasps at 5.50.
However, Wasps are nowhere near to the level they were at a couple of years ago, as so far this season they have been less than convincing.
Glasgow and Gwent fight it out for the wooden spoon, however in this group, it is a one horse race.
