There was a lot to like about their attack being able to swing things back towards their favour after England looked to have them on the run a bit after bowling them out for less than they expected in the first innings.
Looking ahead to the second test - Australia are trading at a ⅕ price tag to win the series and regain the Ashes. England look to be up against it and they’re trading at 8/1 to rally and pull things off.
That would definitely be an impressive feat and they certainly aren’t completely out of it - particularly if they can pick up a bit of speed with their bowling attack and push forward in the next test.
At the moment, the bookmakers seem to prefer a series scoreline of either 3-1, 4-1 or 5-0 all priced identically at an 11/2 listing. A 4-0 sweep by the Australians would reward at a best price of around 6/1 and that’s not a bad price either and will certainly drop substantially if they are able to take the next test as well and go into it 2-0 after a pair of test contests.
The next test match between the two sides will see Australia coming in at a price of around 7/10 for the outright victory and you can expect England sitting a listing of around 23/10 at the outset of things.
