Manchester United vs Tottenham Betting Preview

Tottenham Hotspur are finally set to start their season since a bunch of low-class trash decided they didn't have enough wide-screen televisions. They travel to Old Trafford for today's evening kick-off and they will be looking to take full advantage of a Red Devils side that nearly endured a serious setback at West Brom.

It seems as though Spurs game-plan is already fairly straightforward. Testing David De Gea is going to be their #1 priority after he has shown some weakness on handling some rather routine shots since his United debut.

Sir Alex Ferguson's men have been able to get the result in both of their fixtures with De Gea but he has certainly looked more than nervy and a week of media speculation is going to exacerbate that at this point.

United enter the match at a very short price with bookmakers listing them at a 4/7 margin for the outright victory. Spurs fans will enjoy the 5/1 listing and they might actually view that as a quality price considering we haven't had a chance to see them in action yet.

A draw, which would be a victory for Manchester City, is available at 11/4 and certainly seems plausible if United endure another one of their tepid starts to the Premier League season. Tottenham are short on outright striking options and it looks as though Emmanuel Adebayor is coming into the side, albeit not for this fixture.

Adding even further spice to this one is the fact that Luka Modric has been withdrawn from this one with a rather lame excuse “he wasn't quite right” coming out from the Spurs brass. It looks as though there may be a bit more to it, with recent bids from Chelsea coming to the fore and the fact that the Blues are in full-panic-buy mode right now with Juan Mata coming in as well.

Look for a hot price on a De Gea clean sheet in this one.
