Nani Looking To Pierce Blackpool Defence
- By Lewis Doe on January 25, 2011 08:49 GMTNani will be on of Manchester United’s key players during the Premier League match away at Blackpool.
Nani has been one of the inspirational figures in United’s season so far and there has never been a greater pressure on him to play well in the wide areas of the team. The important thing is he seems happy, settled and in the best form of his whole career.
Nani should be used down one of the flanks against Blackpool and he should also be given free licence by Sir Alex Ferguson to cause complete and utter chaos. He can do this in a variety of different ways.
Firstly, Nani is arguably the quickest player in the United side. This means he can get beyond the full backs to deliver crosses into the box for the likes of Wayne Rooney and Dimitar Berbatov to attack. The crossing part of his game seems to have improved hugely from last season.
Secondly, he can be effective when he cuts back inside and has shots on goal. He strikes a football very well and is extremely accurate when running and moving the ball at high pace. This could be crucial if it proves difficult for United to break Blackpool down and play the ball in through the middle of the defence.
Nani’s experience is now showing because he knows the right way to play in a variety of situations. He has to take the burden of responsibility for creating width because Ryan Giggs is playing more games than he should be already and Park Ji-Sung is still absent at the Asian Cup with South Korea.
All of the trickery and skill, that he must have learned from Cristiano Ronaldo, is still there and he knows the right situations to use this skill in. If United are up against it in a game then Nani will be trying to feed the ball into the attackers as opposed to performing a million and one step overs before being tackled.
