New Zealand vs England ICC Cricket World Cup Final PT 2
- By A.J. Ryder on July 12, 2019 16:37 GMTThe Aussies had left England with a chase of 224 and it could have been seen as a bit of a banana skin as not many teams have been able to successfully chase during this ICC Cricket World Cup.

England’s opening partnership was able to get the job done however, with a massive early stand and they subsequently chased down the total they required with a full 16 overs to spare. The Australians were clearly overwhelmed and England, who had been shaky early on in the tournament - dropping contests to Pakistan and a few other sides they really should have beaten, now seem to be peaking at exactly the correct time.
The bookmakers are floating England at a rather short price of around ⅓ and it will be interesting to see how the odds shift around once we have had the toss and we see who has elected to bat first in this contest. You reckon that England would probably feel confident about their ability to chase down a decent total with the home fans in full voice.
Johnny Bairstow and Jason Roy are the pair considered to be the most likely to post the top total for England and you can find each of them trading around a price of 3/1 or so depending on whom you’re wagering with.
The Black Caps will be relying on Kane Williamson to get them off to a competitive start and the bookmakers have him backed all the way down to a 15/8 margin in order to do so. Martin Guptill and Ross Taylor are also interesting outside shots at around 4/1.
