Park Looking to Shine
- By Lewis Doe on April 8, 2011 07:36 GMTPark Ji-Sung should be in the team to face Fulham at Old Trafford and the South Korean has the ability to make the difference.
Park has only just returned to the side after a long spell out with a hamstring injury but already he’s making a difference. His work ethic and enthusiasm are two qualities that he displays regularly and they rub off on the rest of the team.
Park can play down either wing in the United side but he is not known for bombing forward and attacking with great pace and skill. He is more of a thoughtful player and more often than not, his technique and cleverness are too great to defend against.
What makes Park such an effective player going forward is that he can see space and opportunity when others cannot. He can exploit these things in a way that brings other United players into the game. He does this by dragging players out of position and moving them to create space for his teammates to run into.
Park is also a clean hitter of the ball which makes him an attacking threat whenever United are in and around the opposition penalty area. He can hit a shot at any second which will be good enough to beat the goalkeeper if it’s on target.
Park is at his happiest in the United side when he is playing well and when the team around him is playing well. His best runs in the United side have come when he’s been playing with a smile on his face and it’s important for the club to do whatever is necessary to make sure this happens daily.
The South Korean can also score from a variety of set plays. His goal against Arsenal in the Premier League showed that he can move himself into positions when headers from any angle are possible. He’s a very good player in the air and doesn’t get enough credit for this aspect of his game.
