- By A.J. Ryder on May 23, 2021 15:02 GMTThere’s a lot to like about his track record of success when going down to the wire in major championships and his momentum - and the crowd assistance - will definitely factor into the equation here as he looks to etch his name into history.

Originally, punters could back Phil at a price of around 80/1 with several top bookmakers even after he had already started his bright opening round on Thursday at Kiawah. Now he’s trading much shorter and it will be interesting to see how his price fluctiuates as we get closer to the action actually kicking off.
Since he’s coming in as the leader, Mickelson will tee off last and this will allow a few players the opportunity to get out and post some decent scores to add the pressure of Phil’s date with destiny.
Louis Oosthuizen is fancied to provide a challenge here and some punters might think he’s the cheeky selection here with the bookmakers pricing him at a best price of around 6/1. He is another player who has the ability to hold his nerve on the final day and play some adventurous golf when he has to so he isn’t one to be discounted here at this stage.
The odds then jump to around 16/1 for the next-best-priced contender in Kevin Streelman and Bryson DeChambeau is also in the mix at around 18/1 with several top bookmakers. It will be interesting to see if DeChambeau’s long-hitting style can reward him here as he could be poised to capitalize if he can put together some decent early play and get the benefit of a late collapse from Phil Mickelson or Brooks Koepka.
Other notables include Brandon Grace at 25/1, Jordan Spieth at a 66/1 price tag while former leader Corey Connors can be backed at 80/1.
