William Hill Bonus and 2012 Ryder Cup Betting Preview

The Europeans travel to Medinah in Illinois as the 2012 Ryder Cup gets underway this Friday amidst one of the most widely-anticipated tournaments to get underway in quite some time. With question marks still existing over top of who, exactly, is going to be matched up against whom on the opening day of the competition; the odds are starting to heat up as punters begin taking advantage of some of the more generous odds available before the bulk of the volume pours in.

As it currently stands, the United States are considered to be the strong favourites for the tournament victory and they're trading at an 8/11 price to get the job done in front of the legions of home fans who will be cheering them on.

The tourists can be backed at 8/11 while the draw can be backed at 10/1. In that case, the trophy rests with the holding side.

In regards to an outright bet on who's going to lift the trophy, the United States are priced at 8/11 once again, but the Europeans (with the draw included) are available at even money. The Americans are favoured to get things off to a quality start as well with an odds-on price of 4/6 to win the opening day's play. The Europeans are priced at 7/4 with the draw at 11/2.

The top American player is favoured to be Tiger Woods but with much of his up-and-down form over the past few years, combined with some poor performances at past Ryder Cups, many may be trying to beat him with Mat Kuchar, Steve Stricker, Dustin Johnson or Phil Mickelson at 9/1. Bubba Watson and Jason Dufneer are both interesting options at 10/1.

McIlroy is favoured to be the top European and he's at 9/2 to pull that off though he faces some stiff competition from Luke Donald and Lee Westwood, who trade at 6/1 and 7/1, respectively.

Steve Stricker gets the nod for the top wildcard favourite with a price of 11/4 while the top debutante is favoured to be either Dufner or Keegan Bradley.
