It looks like Brendan Rodgers has agreed a three year deal with Liverool, taking over from the deposed Kenny Dalglish who was removed at the end of another tepid season at Anfield. The former Swansea boss had not been considered an outright favourite until very late when a number of bookmakers suddenly dropped his odds to 1/5 or suspended wagering altogether as word got out that he was ready to accept the position.

Roberto Martinez had looked imminent but speculation cooled quickly to the point where even Rafa Benitez saw his odds drop for what would be a dramatic return to Liverpool. That hasn't materialized, however, and the fact remains that this appointment is also a risky one.

Harry Redknapp is priced at 5/2 with Fabio Capello very much in the reckoning at 3/1.
