Bookmakers are expecting to do brisk business here and there will be a few having a go at Van Gerwen who is a great player but is certainly not entirely unbeatable.
Right now, you’ll find the Dutchman trading at a best price of around 5/4 with several bookmakers but the vast majority going either 11/10 or all the way down to an even money listing.
It always used to be Phil “The Power” Taylor who was considered the short-priced favourite to win this exact tournament but it’s now pretty obvious that the bulk of the bookmakers think he’s a decent shout to potentially make the final match but that he has little chance of pulling off the actual victory.
Right now, you’ll find Phil Taylor trading at a price of around 9/2 with some bookmakers going as high as a 5/1 price but others floating him lower than that down to around a 4/1 listing.
The closest competition appears to be Gary Anderson who can be backed as low as a 6/1 price tag with several bookmakers but you’ll also be able to spot him in a few other places at a 7/1 margin. Expect his price to drop if he picks up some steam in the latter stages of the tournament.
