Berbatov is United's Main Man

Although Berbatov has been out of the side in recent weeks, he remains the most productive striker that United have had all season. He’s consistently scored goals in all competitions and looks as though he has a lot more left in the tank for the end of season run in.
The only reason Berbatov has been kept out of the side is due to the fact that Wayne Rooney and Javier Hernandez have both hit form. Berbatov has been good throughout the season and it’s unfortunate that the pressure from other players in the United team has been keeping him out of the side.
Berbatov could be asked to play one of two roles during the match with Marseille. He is good enough to play in the attack of the team by himself holding the ball up and providing service for runners in a five man midfield. He can also play with a partner, dropping off to get the ball and creating space for others to run into.
Berbatov has been known to sulk during his time at various clubs but this is an occasion that he should really be looking to exploit. Berbatov should see the match against Marseille as the perfect chance to make it clear that he is the main man in the Manchester United attack.
Champions League games can often be settled by players who create a goal out of nothing. Berbatov is one player who can turn the most mediocre of attacking situations into something that it’s impossible for the opposition to defend against. If he can get all components of his game right against Marseille then it could be a long evening of suffering for the French side.
The problem Berbatov faces ahead of this game is convincing Sir Alex Ferguson that he is the right man for the job. United have been playing a certain way over the last few games and this is a system that doesn’t seem to have been based around Berbatov. This is something the Bulgarian has to change but in a positive and productive way on the field, not off it.
