Twenty20 Match Preview: Chennai vs. Bangalore
- By Adam Currie on September 23, 2010 06:57 GMTIn a contest that will have IPL owners in an absolute frenzy, the Chennai Super Kings tackle the Royal Challengers Bangalore in the 1st Semi final of the Champions League Twenty20.
This clash is basically a free-for-all with superstars littered across both XI.
Bangalore can thank Anil Kumble for their resounding victory, over tournament dark horses the Highveld Lions, in a clinical spell of economic bowling that saw only 13 runs scored off 4 overs.
With a team boasting the batting talent of Rahul Dravid, Ross Taylor and Indian sensation Kohli, very few would doubt their ability to win a tournament of this nature.
However, put that up against a bowling attack including Doug Bollinger, Muri and a batting line up including 'Mr Cricket' himself, Mike Hussey, and one begins to see just how tight this game could go.
In what has been a largely one sided tournament in most respects, true cricket fans will breathe a sigh of relief to see the minnows disposed of, and the real cricket begin to take shape.
Even with the loss of Kallis to the Bangalore batting line up, there seems more than enough depth to cover his place.
This game should be a thriller, with a ton of runs scored. With many of the games thus far being one-sided, one must feel that teams of this nature will rise to the occasion with a humdinger lingering.
This will be tight, however Bangalore look the stronger side leading into this, and seem the pick of the two due to their depth in both the batting and bowling department.
