Twenty20 Match Preview: Chennai vs. Bangalore
- By Adam Currie on September 24, 2010 01:22 GMTIPL owners, and the Indian public alike, will be over the moon at tomorrow's clash which pits two Indian mega-franchises up against each other for the bragging rights of 20/20 cricket.
Chennai tackle Bangalore in probably the most evenly contested matchup so far in the competition.
Chennai have the aforementioned rights up until tomorrow, having won this year's IPL, however the slate will be wiped clean if Bangalore can take Dhoni's men.
Simply put this is a clash of the superstars. Both XI will be able to field formidable batting line-ups, with the main differences being in the nature of their bowling attack - with Chennai's boasting plenty of spinners, while Bangalore rely heavily on their pace attack.
With the past seven match ups between these sides being split 4-3 in favour of Bangalore, shows just how tight tomorrow match could go.
Royal Challengers Bangalore (probable): Manish Pandey, Rahul Dravid, Robin Uthappa (wk), Ross Taylor, Cameron White, Virat Kohli, Dillon du Preez, Praveen Kumar, Dale Steyn, Anil Kumble (capt), R Vinay Kumar.
Chennai Super Kings (probable): M Vijay, Michael Hussey, Suresh Raina, S Badrinath, MS Dhoni (capt. & wk), S Anirudha, Albie Morkel / Justin Kemp, Doug Bollinger, R Ashwin, Muttiah Muralitharan, L Balaji/ Joginder Sharma.
One must feel that playing on a humid Durban pitch that Bangalore would be favourites to take this tussle, despite the odds presented. Humidity, coupled with a sever Durban dew, is bound to assist a Bangalore pace attack- especially if bowling second.
