We've got a few interesting fixtures ahead of us this weekend in the English Premier League and it appears as though Manchester United will have to dip into the transfer market in January as Darren Fletcher has had to take some extended time off to deal with an unfortunate medical problem. Having failed to sign a midfielder during the summer, Fergie is now facing a shortage of talent in the center of the park – complicating their recent failure to qualify for the Champions League knock-out stages.

Will the Red Devils continue to move ahead or will this be a season of consolidation for Fergie's men? It's an interesting question – especially since City were also knocked out of their (much harder) group. Chelsea (well, Frank Lampard) also dealt City a blow by clipping them 1-0 last time out.
The race for the Premier League trophy is now well and truly on and United will be slugging it out with City at the top of the table. They look to have a good chance of picking up all three points this weekend as they travel to London to face off against QPR.
As it currently stands, the host side are 6/1 to get one over United while the Champions trade at a slim 1/2 margin. QPR are a tricky side to play at home and it will be interesting to see how Sir Alex Ferguson's men approach the fixture.
Manchester City face a crunch clash with Arsenal this weekend on Sunday in a match that will certainly be drawing the bulk of the attention. The host side are trading at a slim 4/6 margin while Arsene Wenger's men can be backed in the neighbourhood of 4/1.
Chelsea travel to Wigan and are listed at a very short 2/5 but Chelsea have sometimes struggled when facing the Latics away and this is usually the time of year that Wigan begin starting to show a bit of fight before squeaking into survival on the final day of the season. Wigan are priced at 7/1 for the home win and 7/2 to hold Chelsea to a draw.
Liverpool are at evens to get the better of 11/4 Aston Villa. Tottenham are heavily-favoured at 2/5 to get the better of Sunderland, who now have Martin O'Neill at the helm. Look for them to take a fair amount of money at 7/1 as they looked a new side under their new talisman.
