Fulham v Blackpool Betting Preview
- By Jaymes Monte on April 2, 2011 10:46 GMT
Fulham host Blackpool at Craven Cottage in this Sunday’s early Premier League kick off.
Just two points separate theese two teams in the overly congested bottom half of the Premier League table and a defeat for either side would plunge them further into the mire.
Fulham manager Mark Hughes is hopeful that Steve Sidwell will be available for selection after the returned to full training after over a month out of action. Aaron Hughes suffered a dislocated shoulder when on international duty last week but should return while Bobby Zamora is doubtful with illness.
Top scorer DJ Campbell is unavailable for Blackpool as he serves the final game of a three-match suspension. Blackpool’s notorious goalkeeper crisis looks to have passed as Paul Rachubka and Matt Gilks have returned to reserve team action, but Richard Kingson is likely to continue between the sticks.
Unusually for a team down at the bottom end of the Premier League table it is Blackpool’s home form that is the main reason for their precarious position. On their travels they have won more games than any other team outside the top five. So, whilst Fulham are unbeaten in their last five home games, having won four, victory is far from a formality for the Cottagers here.
Nevertheless, the home side are priced at betting odds of 4/7 with a draw at odds of 10/3 and another away win for Blackpool is available to back at odds of 5/1.
Up until they met Everton a fortnight ago Fulham were enjoying a mini resurgence led by the inspirational Damien Duff. The Irish midfielder has now scored three in his last three games and will provide the key to the Cottagers staving off the threat of relegation. He can be backed at odds of 7/2 to find the net at anytime in Sunday’s game.
The visitors have their own talismanic midfielder to look to for goals in the shape of midfielder Charlie Adam. The Scot scored two against Blackburn on his return from suspension two weeks ago and took his season tally to 10, he is also available to back at odds of 7/2 to net at anytime this Sunday.
Another win for the Cottagers would put them within touching distance of the magical 40 point mark – although that is no guarantee of safety this season in such a tight league – while Blackpool will be hoping that they can continue their impressive form on the road.
