Manny Pacquiao vs Antonio Margarito Saturday Night Preview
- By A.J. Ryder on November 13, 2010 20:36 GMTEyes from all four corners of the globe will be firmly fixed to computers and televisions tonight as Manny Pacquiao faces off against Antonio Margarito.
It's hard to think of a more anticipated bout, aside from the possibility of Pacquiao vs Mayweather.
The late-breaking news is that Pacquiao came in a few pounds under at the weigh-in but neither fighter expects it to matter much once the gloves drop.
The general consensus amongst fight observers is that Pacquiao looks to be overlaid with his price hovering around 1.25 on the exchanges- that's too short considering the weight Pacquiao gives up to Margarito. It goes without saying that Manny is the outright favourite but Margarito is one of the biggest challenges Pacquiao has ever taken on.
Margarito is trading at around 5.2 with the bulk of the volume coming in on Manny Pacquiao. The method of victory betting indicates that Pacquiao by KO or TKO remains the most likely outcome and you'll find it trading at around 1.74. A decision victory doesn't look completely out of the question and Pacquiao trades at around 4.2 to pull that one off.
On the opposite end of the spectrum, anybody looking to back Margarito by KO or TKO is going to find a price of around 7.2 while a whopping 24.0 is out there on Margarito by decision.
The fight pays 3.05 to go the distance and you don't reckon there will be much action on that one.
In regards to the round betting, Pacquiao looks short-priced in the fifth- where he's available at a mere 12.5.
This bout could be one for the live punters as you will probably be able to tell from his first round performance whether Pacquiao will actually win the fight or not. The whispers seem to surround him possibly not being in the right mental framework for this bout.
The fact remains, however, that this fight is Manny's to lose and he's going to be a big betting favoutite, so you'll have to get creative if you're looking for value and backing the Filipino sensation.
