UFC 116 Lesnar vs. Carwin Main Event Betting Tips: Part Three
- By Allan Pederson on July 4, 2010 01:24 GMTWe're just a few hours away from one of the biggest MMA fights of the year as Brock Lesnar's dramatic return to the Ocatagon will see him face off against the high-flying Shane Carwin.
If you’re a fan of all-out brawls and quick finishes, this fight is built to suit; heavily-favoured to not even go a single round.
In regards to the outright UFC 116 Las Vegas odds, they are heavily-skewed towards a KO or TKO victory in the first round. If you are wagering on that, specifically, you can cash out a pretty decent pay day but you can't be particularly general about this one.
Brock Lesnar's odds to win are priced at 4/6 while Carwin is available at a price of 11/10. If you want to go into further detail, Lesnar to win via KO is priced at 5/6 while Carwin by KO is listed at a 6/5 price.
You're in for a hefty payout if you back either fighter to win by any method other than KO with Lesnar on points at 12/1 and Lesnar by submission at 14/1. Carwin by decision is a massive 18/1 while Carwin by submission is trading at 10/1.
Carwin to win the fight in the first round is priced at a slim 2/1 with Lesnar available at 11/4 to score a round one win. The second round pays out at 9/2 for Lesnar and 6/1 for Carwin. It's interesting to see how heavily-favoured Carwin is and you have to wonder what might happen if this doesn't end quickly.
Lesnar to win in the final round pays out at 16/1 with Carwin at 18/1.
If you think Lesnar vs. Carwin is going to go the distance- you can back that at a massive 13/2- one of the highest prices ever on a fight going the distance. Combine this being a five-round title fight with the fact that these two tend to end fights very, very quickly and you have a recipe for a real smash-and-grab type of fixture.
If you're looking to back Carwin it appears as though you've got to stack it on a first round victory but if you're looking for a longer-odds selection try him to win by submission- he may be able to trap Lesnar and score an unlikely tap-out win. The two fighters ability on the G&P may cancel itself out and we might see them deploy some moves that they don't usually deploy.
Lesnar will likely take this by KO and the first round price is decent enough, but the second round price is especially solid. If the fight goes longer than a round it tilts dramatically in favour of Lesnar. He has a lot of question marks over top of him because he's been out for so long, but he will likely attract the bulk of the betting volume tonight.
