The latest reports from the Manchester United camp indicated that Wayne Rooney failed to train on Monday after being derailed by a few different injuries. Nothing too concerning, obviously, as the most recent word from Old Trafford indicates that United will likely field Rooney in today's crunch Champions League clash with Benfica.

With both sides dead-even at eight points apiece, United would more or less ensure qualification by winning today.
United are dealing with several injuries to important players and it appears as though the depth of the squad is really coming in handy at this point. Speaking to the media, Sir Alex Fergusopn declared "you don't envisage having quite so many injuries... It doesn't disrupt us to a great degree but it does unsettle the balance of the team."
Since getting embarrassed by Manchester City, United have gone on to win every match since without conceding a goal. If City are to slip up at any point, it appears as though Fergie's men will be poised to capitalize as this is usually when they start to shift into high-gear after an up-and-down start. It was a debut of dizzying highs and terrifying lows but United now seem to be settling into things.
United are the significant favourites for this one tonight with an 8/15 price tag while Benfica can be backed at 11/2 for the upset. They gave United a rough go of things in the reverse fixture in Portugal and many might see the 14/5 draw as a solid selection.
Rooney is getting the nod from the bookmakers to open the scoring at a 3/1 price, but United may opt to deploy him in midfield again so the better selection is likely to be Javier Hernandez at 10/3. Keep your eye on Oscar Cardozo at 8/1 who might make things very interesting if he's in form tonight.
United come in off a 1-0 victory over Swansea at the weekend.
