We're Just One Day Away From Pacquiao vs Margarito
- By Allan Pederson on November 12, 2010 19:18 GMTWe're now less than 36 hours away from the first punch being thrown in the Manny Pacquaio vs. Antonio Margarito fight, and the betting markets are really starting to heat up.
Punters may be starting to ponder Freddy Roach's 60 Minutes comments indicating Pacquiao may not be in the zone mentally for this one. It could be head games, or it could be a truthful admission.
The bookmakers certainly seem to think Pacquiao will take this one and he's an ultra-slim 1/6 for the outright victory here while Antonio Margarito has been shortened to 7/2 odds.
A Pacquiao victory by KO or TKO is favoured and that's especially interesting because Margarito ranks amongst the largest opponents Pacquiao has faced off against and he has the punching power to trouble Manny if he isn't giving 100%.
Pacquiao to score a KO, TKO or DQ victory pays out at 4/7 while a Pacquiao points victory is trading at 14/5. If Margarito gets the result, he's favoured (by a significant margin) to win by KO or TKO and you can back him at 5/1 to do so. A Margarito decision score pays out at 12/1.
A points win could be more likely than most would originally assume and Pacquiao is priced at 1/9 to be ahead on points after 3 rounds. Margarito is a tidy 5/1 to be leading on points after 3 rounds.
That's an interesting bet as it's actually better odds than he is at in the outright market and all he would need to do is win three rounds as opposed to a fight, Interesting for anybody who thinks Manny will close out the fight better than he might start it.
Manny Pacquiao's favoured rounds to get the victory look to be the 6-10 where he's available at 10.0 while 9-11 are the favourites for Margarito.
We'll be bringing you some late-breaking news and tips tomorrow in the run up to the Pacquiao vs Margarito fight.
