World Matchplay Darts Final Betting Tips Pt 1
- By A.J. Ryder on July 27, 2014 01:54 GMTNow that we are down to the final two in the 2014 World Matchplay of Darts it looks like an in-form Phil Taylor is getting the distinct edge ahead of his biggest challenger on the world scene in quite some time - Michael Van Gerwen. Things had been up and down for Taylor for a good portion of the last year having lost to several opponents that you just don’t reckon The Power would lose to.

After watching Taylor put together some excellent performances in this tournament, punctuated by his spectacular nine-darter in the quarter finals, it’s no surprise that he is getting the outright favourites position at this point with the bookmakers pricing him as the odds-on favourite to get the better of his Dutch challenger.
While you can still expect the odds to swing around considerably during the build-up to the event, it looks like there is still plenty of value here if you are actually taking a position on either selection. In the past, it has always been difficult to get a decent price on Taylor and you know that if he plays to his ability to he can handle absolutely anyone on the planet.
As it currently stands, you’ll find Taylor trading at a 1.80 price tag to get the better of Van Gerwen, who can be backed at even money right now. It’s interesting that if you look at the correct score margins, you’ll find several different outcomes all trading in the favourites position with a 13.0 price. Taylor to win 18-16, 18-15, 18-14 or Van Gerwen to win 18-16 and 18-15 all trade at identical prices and are considered the most logical outcomes from a betting perspective.
If you’re fancying this one to go to 19, you can get Taylor or Van Gerwen to win 19-17 at a very solid 21.0. Both Taylor and Van Gerwen trade at 17.0 to win by any other score - which is certainly possible if you really genuinely fancy this one to come all the way down to the wire.
