2000 Guineas Ante Post Update PT 2

Saxon Warrior looms as an undefeated horse with the aforementioned Racing Post Trophy victory and a Group 2 win at Naas giving him some real credibility as well after his maiden victory.

It’s the Racing Post Trophy that looks to be even more of a quality indication of what this horse can really do because he was able to track the leaders throughout the bulk of the race and was hampered about 100 yards from the finish only to rally gamely and catch Roaring Lion to score by a neck on the line at Doncaster.

His chief rival heading into this race looks to be Elarqam who is owned by Sheikh Hamdan and trades as a very plausible winner here despite only being out twice during his two-year-old campaign - victorious in both races. He has been off the track since late September and didn’t compete in any of the championship races later in the season.

The talented son of Frankel has a lot of credibility to score a Guineas victory here and you’ll note that he doesn’t have a prep race scheduled and will train directly up to the 2000 Guineas. It is also worth noting that in his last race he was geared down towards the end of the contest - clearly indicating that he was capable of winning by a larger margin.

Should he be able to come on nicely from that race then you’ll also have to assume that he will have developed and grown a bit during his turn out - and we all know what a Frankel could be capable of doing in the 2000 Guineas. It appears as though the punters definitely agree.
