2000 Guineas Ante Post Update PT 3

The third most fancied contender for the Guineas is the exciting Gustav Klimt who can be backed at a relatively enticing price that should be able to get a few people over to his side despite him not boasting quite as much wagering momentum as his two rivals.

He has been off the track since last July when he was able to conquer the Superlative Stakes - which is a Group 3 contest - at Newmarket so you know he’ll be able to handle the course and his breeding indicating that he will have no trouble with the distance. There is a lot to like about the talented son of Galileo and the AP O’Brien yard knows how to win the big contests like this one.

It’s worth noting that his entries include both the Irish and English 2000 Guineas in addition to both Derby contests.

Roaring Lion is another chief contender here who is looking to get the better of Saxon Warrior heading into the 2000 Guineas. There is a lot to like about his ability and everybody knows that the John Gosden-trained son of Kitten’s Joy could have improved markedly over the off-season and should come into the race with a lot of fresh momentum.

Similar to the other chief 2000 Guineas contenders you’ll note that he is using the race as a seasonal debut and clearly has grander designs for later on in the season. You can assume that Qatari bloodstock has an awful lot of options and he remains their main three-year-old contender this year.

You’ll note that Roaring Lion was caught on the line by Saxon Warrior in the Racing Post Trophy and you get the indication that he may not be a longer distance horse and could really flourish in the one mile distance that the 2000 Guineas is contested each year.
