2015/2016 Manchester United Betting Preview PT 1

After a season of ups and downs, a bit of consolidation and a bit of bravery - Manchester United were ultimately able to secure their return to the UEFA Champions League as Louis Van Gaal was able to steer the Red Devils to 4th place in the Premier League after overcoming an inauspicious start to the seasons play. A poor run of form early on saw his 3-5-2 formation that had looked so good in exhibition matches abroad against top sides be completely undone by the hard-working mid-table clubs of the Premier League.

Ultimately, after a tactical reshuffle and a few signings here and there, United were able to push on and get some decent results - particularly after coaxing some excellent performances out of squad players like Marouane Fellaini and Ashley Young. Both were instrumental in United being able to push forward and get goals when they really needed them.

This summer has been very interesting for United fans as a huge cross-section of players have signed on to join the emerging project at Old Trafford. Things were more or less confirmed before the season was even over that Manchester United had a deal in place to sign the flying Dutchman Memphis Depay - who was the top-scorer in the Eredivisie this past season.

He’ll be moving over to United and hoping he can reproduce similar heroics to Ruud Van Nistelrooy - though it does look as though Manchester United may be deploying him more as an out-and-out winger or a left forward in a 4-3-3 as opposed to playing him as a genuine number 9.

This past week also saw the signing of Italian defender Matteo Darmian who moved over from Torino and looks set to shore up the backline. He had been on the radar screen at United for a while and he’s looking likely to slot in next to Marcos Rojo or possibly Chris Smalling at the back.
